I watch the clock tick and tock

And I cross off another day.

It makes me think,

Sometimes a little too much,

About how funny time can be.

It gives and it takes,

It sustains and it deprives.

We always want more when we have none,

And we always want less when we have too much.

People that were the world

Become strangers in the dark.

Places that were a haven

Now hold bitterness and reject.

Rather than watch the days pass by,

We need to put our worries on hold

And realize

That time is stable; constant.

We were given a certain number our hours

To do with as we please.

Which means we need to use them and rejoice,

Because gifts given freely cannot be wasted.

We have years, yes,

And that may seem like so long,

But a year is only 365 days

And a day is only 24 hours.

In reality a year is nothing;

It will go in the blink of an eye.

But it can be everything-

Growth, strength, passion, and joy.

Every minute will teach a lesson,

And every hour will fill your heart with peace,

Or each will destroy you.

It depends on what you allow.

Let each second define who you are.

Let each moment overcome you

Until your soul is bursting.

Let your mind be overwhelmed.

The clock will always tick and tock,

And the days will each be gone.

The world will change and shift,

But time will never fail to remain,

So use it.
